Wink why experimental is progressive ?

Before 1970 , there wasn't a music called Experimental , Rock , Blues , Jazz ,
Pop & psychadelic was the only genres of music available at that time . the Beatles , Rolling Stones were under the rock'n'roll category , whitch was pop in fact . Woodstock was fullfilled with psychadelic , folk , and blues rock bands .
SOOOOOOO , the idea of mixing between the basic 4 lines , blues , folk , jazz
and classical wasn't tolerated at first stages , the prove was the very slow market of selling these stuff . Label companies did a hell of a job in introducing these kind of creativity . Bands like Pink Floyd , King Crimson , Genesis , Yes ,
Camel , Eloy , Emerson Lake & Palmer , Jethro Tull , were not easily tolerated at
that point ,, But still , the early 70's was the right time to deliver something new in this behalf , and Simply the Progressivity in music was born by using this fusion of music to create a new era . Giants like Caravan , Van der Graaf , PFM , Banco del muteo , Gong , Tangerine Dream , Soft Machine , and so many others were involved one way or another in holding the torsh of progressive since that time .
Also , Led Zeppelin , Uriah Heep , Deep Purple , Thin Lizzy , had the chance to improve a new categories of Hard Rock , Blues Rock , Folk Rock , the way that Hendrix did in the mid 60's .
Maybe , until a certain limits we call this music Avant - Garde / Experi , but in fact it's a progressive music , and Robert Fripp was & still the Godfather of progressive , beside many creative sources in this field .......

ANDDDDD , Progressive was created to live , among US .

ehi Toni...this is what I know
Experimental rock or avant-garde rock is a type of music based on rock and roll which experiments with the basic elements of the genre, and/or which pushes the boundaries of common composition and performance technique.
Performers may also attempt to individualize their music with unconventional time signatures, instrumental tunings, compositional styles, lyrical techniques, elements of other musical genres, singing styles, instrumental effects or custom-made experimental musical instruments.

Typical instruments are..Guitar - Bass - Drums - Keyboard

there must be some mistake?

It's completely right Simo2k , your knowledge about music is really accurate . But , basically , during the 50's & the 60's . only traditional music was available in the market , such as Blues , Jazz , Country , folk , rock'n'roll , and classical . It's well known in general what was used in these categories of music as far as instruments concern .
Progressive music in the mid 60's was nearly a worldwide jump toward a new age of music . Woodstock contributed one way or another in making this jump a reality .
Bands like Grosby , Stills , Nash & Young , Canned Heat , Allman brothers , Jimi Hendrix , Ten Years After , and so so so many others were able to create a new dimensions in the world of blues rock as we know . Carlos Santana also had his new genre of latin blues rock . Even country music had a new flavour with artists like Roy Buchanan & Toni Joe White . Psychalecic was also a type well known between 1964 & 1972 .
Changing lyrics , using new instruments , different looks & performances on stage also contributed in this jump . By using new methods in composing their music , blended by new taste in making their music , we've simply got this new generation of Progressive music . Since the beginning of this century , there was only the four traditional kind of music , and after 2 world wars , and Vietnam & Korea , the time of changing the tune has come . And IMHO . i believe that with the Beatles , it was the beginning , and i hope it will hold , until a new era of music will be created .
