I can see what you mean, theres a difference. It's almost like old and new I suppose in a way. But you still get new bands playing really good punk etc.
At first those stereotypes were all I knew of these genres, which kind of makes me sad but going a listening to all that old material is cool for me. And I can tell the difference. |

i found this while looking for a mohinder discog. and wow. i joined here just to join this discussion. i gotta say my favorite screamo band lately has been reversal of man. please inform the captain this is a hijack is also great (mainly cuz the sound clips) you like any second wave emo? (i think that's what it's called) e.x. sunny day real estate, cap'n jazz, american football |

so what bands are real emo, you clarified what bands are real screamo, but not real emo and emo and screamo are in two different genres themsleves

hardcore: rites of spring, moss icon indie: sunny day real estate, american football and i think the indie gone bad is because it's a more punk sounding indie. |

I only added screamo bands to the list. Not many emo bands. but yes sunny day real estate, american football, texas is the reason, the promise ring, (early) get up kids are all emo.
The guy from the smiths didn't create the term emo. It came from some spanish dude I believe. This was acsually typed up by my good friend and he deff knows what he is talking about. He grew up in these ages. Emo - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
