Eye in the Sky is a 1982 album by The Alan Parsons Project. Songs on this album are in a number of different styles, from cool and funky to lyrical and heavily orchestrated. The sleeve was green with an image of the Eye of Horus. Variously reported as the band's best-selling album, although others claim that Ammonia Avenue gets this honor. Vocal performers were Eric Woolfson, David Paton, Chris Rainbow, Lenny Zakatek, Elmer Gantry and Colin Blunstone. Eye in the Sky contained the Project's greatest hit, the title track, which had lead vocals by Eric Woolfson and hit #3 on the Billboard charts in the US and #6 in Canada. Says Parsons of the song, "...I hated the song when we first started recording it — I was quite ready to drop it altogether. Then we hit upon the hypnotic guitar chugs and it all came together." This album also contains the well known instrumental piece "Sirius" which has been featured at sporting events throughout the US. Most notably, this song has been featured as a court-rushing theme for the Chicago Bulls and as player introduction theme for the German football club Eintracht Frankfurt. It is also featured as the entrance music for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the Iowa State Cyclones, the NFL's Detroit Lions, legendary professional wrestler Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat and as of the 07/08 Premiership Season for the English football team Manchester City. A version of this song has also been used on the early 90s football arcade game Super High Impact. ![]() Track listing 1. "Sirius" (instrumental) – 1:54 2. As a sound engineer , Alan did a great job while recording The Dark Side of the Moon and Abbey Road ( Floyd & Beatles ) .. But , the man behind the most important achievment of this project band was Eric Woolfson and Andrew Powell after 1976 . Eye in the sky is simply excellent and deserves 4 Stars as a progressive album , and 5 Stars for some tracks in this album ( Sirius , eye in the sky , silence and I , old & wise ) his discography ratings , in my opinion == -- Tales of mystery & imagination --- 5 stars -- -- I Robot ------------------------- 4 stars -- -- Pyramid ------------------------ 3.5 stars -- -- Eve --------------------------- 3 stars -- -- The Turn of a friendly card ------- 3.5 stars -- -- Eye in the Sky ------------------- 4 stars -- -- Gaudi -------------------------- 4.5 stars -- the others ----------- not more than 2 and 3 stars -- -- N.B == Eye in the Sky is a wonderful album , but tales & gaudi are more Progressive . |
